Resident of the Month

Say hello to our featured resident, Mrs. Byrtle P.

Resident of the month at Arden Place of Richland Hills

Byrtle was born on January 15 at home in a small town named Booker, Texas where the doctor presumed her deceased. Her father is credited for getting her to breath. Byrtle’s father was a real life cowboy on the Chisholm Trail cattle drives. At 12 years old, she worked in her grandmother’s café. Byrtle double majored in Piano and English and went on to teach first grade. At a dance, she met Stevens Larue P. who was in the Air Force. It has been 63 years since they married in 1957. For a few years they lived in Biloxi, Mississippi but has now lived in the same house in NRH for many years. She has two children, Michael and Viola, seven grandchildren and 4 young great grandchildren. Byrtle has always remained active in church, writing cards and praying for people, teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, and helped with VBS and Good News Club. Byrtle worked as a substitute teacher at schools, and taught piano from home. Byrtle is an excellent cook and seamstress. Her hobbies are reading. Byrtle has traveled all over the world and is a cancer survivor. Her favorite scripture reads, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding,” Proverbs 3:5. Arden Place of Richland Hills is so glad Byrtle is with us and we look forward to hearing all of her stories about her life.
